The Foundation To Success: High Quality On The Job Training...

As an employer, you play a crucial role in ensuring your apprentice gains the practical skills and knowledge they need to excel in their role. High-quality on-the-job training involves more than just assigning tasks – it’s about providing meaningful opportunities for learning that align with their apprenticeship standard.

This includes clear instruction, constructive feedback, and hands-on experience that helps them build confidence and competence. By fostering a supportive environment and encouraging their growth, you ensure that your apprentice develops the expertise needed to make a valuable contribution to your organisation.

Set Up For Success...

Support Off-the-Job Training

At least 20% of the apprentice’s paid working hours should be dedicated to off-the-job training. This could include workshops, projects, or mentoring sessions and must focus on developing the skills, knowledge, and behaviours outlined in their apprenticeship programme.

Ensure Proper Compensation

Apprentices must be paid at least the National Minimum Wage for their age and apprenticeship year. Providing fair compensation ensures compliance and demonstrates your commitment to their development.

Recognise Prior Learning & Develop a Tailored Training Plan

At Kingdom Academy, we work with you to assess your apprentice’s existing skills and experience, ensuring their training builds on prior learning while focusing on developing new capabilities. Together, we’ll create an apprenticeship agreement outlining the apprentice’s role, responsibilities, and training. This is supported by a tailored training plan that guides their learning journey, aligning with both their needs and the goals of your organisation.

A Supportive Journey Which Is Learner Centric...

Provision Of English and Maths Support

If your apprentice doesn’t already hold Level 2 qualifications in English and maths, you are responsible for supporting their efforts to achieve these during their apprenticeship. However, this learning does not count towards the 20% off-the-job training requirement.

Reasonable Adjustments Provision

Ensure your apprentice has the tools, support, and accommodations needed to succeed, especially if they have disabilities or health conditions.
