Meet the Team: A Conversation with Wendy Gray, Senior Apprenticeship Training Coordinator

At Kingdom Academy, our success is driven by the passion and expertise of our team. In this edition of Meet the Team, we sit down with Wendy Gray, our Senior Apprenticeship Training Coordinator, to learn more about her journey, her role, and what she loves most about working at Kingdom Academy.

A Career Built on Supporting Learners

Wendy’s journey in the education and training sector spans an impressive 17 years, with experience in Further Education (FE), Higher Education (HE), and the Housing sector. Her time at Kingdom Academy has seen her progress from an administration role to mentoring learners before stepping into her current leadership position.

“Each learner’s journey is unique, and my role is all about ensuring they feel supported, valued, and equipped to succeed,” Wendy shares. “I work closely with both our delivery team and learners to guide them through their professional development, supporting strong retention and achievement outcomes.”

A Team That Supports Each Other

When asked about her favourite part of working at Kingdom Academy, Wendy’s answer is simple: teamwork.

“We have a strong, supportive team who always help one another. That collaborative approach makes such a difference – not only in how we work together but also in how we support our learners.”

Wendy values the opportunity to work alongside passionate professionals, particularly in Housing Delivery, where learners play a vital role in supporting vulnerable customers and communities.

“It’s incredibly rewarding to work with professionals who are making a real difference in people’s lives. Seeing learners grow in confidence and capability is what makes this job so fulfilling.”

Beyond the Workplace

When she’s not supporting learners, Wendy is an avid traveller, having lived and explored across Australia, the UK, and Europe. She also enjoys reading, particularly thriller and crime fiction, and unwinding with a good book.

What Makes Kingdom Academy Special?

Wendy believes Kingdom Academy’s learner-centred approach and supportive team culture are what set it apart.

“The focus on inclusion, development, and genuinely supporting people, whether learners or colleagues – makes this a great place to work. Everyone is valued, and that sense of belonging is something really special.”

Wendy’s journey is a testament to the opportunities for growth and development at Kingdom Academy. Her progression from administration to senior leadership highlights how the right support, teamwork, and commitment to learners can lead to a truly fulfilling career.
