Health & Safety Awareness

An ideal starting point for operatives entering the construction industry, this course introduces the principles of site safety, hazard awareness, and personal responsibility. It’s a common first step towards gaining a CSCS card.

The Health and Safety Awareness course is an ideal introduction for anyone starting out in the construction industry. It provides a clear, practical overview of how to work safely on site, helping new operatives understand the key principles of hazard awareness, personal responsibility, and safe working practices.

Through straightforward guidance and real site examples, you will learn how to recognise common risks, follow site rules, and contribute to a safe, well managed working environment. The course covers essential topics including site signage, protective equipment, reporting procedures, and the behaviours expected of every worker on a construction site.

For many learners, this course is the first step towards achieving a CSCS Labourer Card. It gives you the foundation knowledge needed to progress confidently into further training and employment.

All of our CITB and industry safety courses can be completed at our modern training centres in Scotland or England, offering a supportive setting for new entrants to build their skills.
