The course provided the knowledge around legislation and management skills to enable me to progress in my career and do my current role with more confidence. There was an abundance of resources provided and signposting to find more if required.

My Tutor was so supportive and really took into account my personal and professional circumstances and tailored her support. It was so crucial to enable me to complete the apprenticeship, I couldn't have done it without her.

I have more confidence now in my role and it has given me the knowledge to advocate for my tenants in new ways. It has unlocked the ability for me to move up the career ladder as the social housing sector."
A lot of my work involves an understanding around Gov policies and Housing Law.Initially I was nervous, but KA provided a really good, engaging experience for my learning journey. I hadn't studied for many years but the ease of accessing support from my tutor and the regular workshops gave me confidence with undertaking the course.

My tutor was particularly helpful, supporting me throughout. She was always available on email, and offered a Teams chat if I needed one to one support throughout.I have seen an improvement in the way I communicate professionally regarding day to day operations with fellow professionals. I also have greater housing knowledge which can be applied in my day to day work.

This is a big personal achievement for which I would like to utilise my qualification to further my career. I aspire to be a senior leader in housing and this will support me in my next steps to achieving such.

Completing the Level 5 Coaching Professional Apprenticeship in 2023 was a transformative experience for Toria, enabling her to become a qualified coach while continuing to work full-time. Passionate about the value of school-based coaching, she saw the apprenticeship as the best route to develop her skills and make a real impact.

“The apprenticeship has had a huge impact - not just on me, but on my team and the organisation as a whole. I now use coaching skills in every part of my job, from teaching to leadership, and have coached over 15 staff members in a one-to-one setting. This has helped improve productivity and brought real benefits to the organisation.”

Toria credits the learn-on-the-job approach as one of the biggest advantages of an apprenticeship compared to other types of training. The combination of practical application, mentorship, and theoretical learning allowed her to develop skills that were immediately relevant and supported by her workplace. Although balancing work and study was a challenge, she developed strong time management skills and found ways to integrate her learning into her daily role.

“I realised that even with limited hours in the day, I could adapt, plan, and succeed - and that in itself was a valuable lesson.” Toria highly recommends apprenticeships, saying: “It was a lot of work, but completely worth it. The experience has not only developed my career but also benefited my colleagues and organisation. I look forward to continuing my coaching journey and finding new ways to support and develop others.”
I am thrilled to share my experience with the Level 5 Leadership and Management apprenticeship, which has been instrumental in my professional development as a mid-level manager within a Fire & Rescue setting. This programme not only equipped me with advanced leadership skills and strategic management capabilities but also prepared me for more senior roles within my organisation. Overall, this qualification has not only enhanced my career prospects but has also positioned me to contribute more effectively to my team and organisation. I highly recommend the apprenticeship to anyone looking to develop their leadership capabilities and achieve personal and professional growth/development.

"The apprenticeship has given me sound underpinning knowledge to allow me to deal with differing situations in my work environment. Overall, my experience was excellent with consistent tutor (David Llewellyn) superb. A real font of knowledge, always available for help, guidance and support.
It has given me the tools in the toolbox so that I am better equipped to deal with situations in my work life. It has also allowed me to assist others who turn to me for assistance.

"I worked as an apprentice housing support worker so it has housing in common. My tutor was really helpful, always responded to my questions and helped me learn how to format my work and was overall just really helpful and patient. The apprenticeship taught me a lot, especially about reflection and how much that can be used day to day to help you develop."

"Having spent 15 years in housing I wanted to complete a professional qualification to support my role and to improve my confidence. I found the online learning challenging as I struggled with connectivity and also this method of learning however the support I continued to receive from my mentor Simon Nicholson was fantastic and I couldn't have got through the course without him.

Completing this course and gaining a distinction has given me a real confidence boost in my own ability and knowledge/understanding of the housing sector. I am keen to progress on to the next level of CIH and I am looking to do this with the next intake".

"I work at Bristol City Council as a grants coordinator for a government funded programme “Holiday Activities and Food Programme”. The grant funds approximately 80 external organisations across Bristol to run holiday activity. As part of my role, I am involved in supporting funded organisations in becoming more established and enabling them to expand their current offering, to create more sustainable holiday provision in the city.

My coaching skills are used when working with providers to help them identify where their organisations would be best supported and how they will create development plans.

The course was enjoyable from the start, and I found the reading and references very useful to further my knowledge. Working with my peers was extremely valuable and the additional observation from Diana really helped to develop my coaching skills. Karen is always easy to get hold of, answer questions and explain any enquires, her feedback is very useful and has enabled me to achieve passes in the written elements.

Overall I have recommended the course to numerus people and I have had very positive comments from family and colleagues on my positive communication style. I have noticed an improvement in my self-awareness and ability to communicate more effectively both in my home and work life. This has been of great benefit overall and I am very pleased that I have completed the course.

"I am a headteacher of a primary school. Coaching enables much more effective staff development conversations grounded in a collegiate and supportive approach.

The provider was excellent throughout. I found the resources and workbooks invaluable. My tutor, who joined our group a little late was first class - very supportive, honest and reliable. I now have far greater confidence in all times of meetings in my school and a much better understanding of how people behave and lead. I feel I can support individuals skillfully to b e leaders of their own development.

"I had a great experience with my Tutor Bobbie Carter. She was extremely supportive, went over and above with her duties, she took the time to explain tasks to me. she always made time for me and was very accommodating.

I'd like to thank her so much for her thoughtfulness, kindness and patience. She is the best supervisor/tutor I have ever come across.

I have improved on my assertiveness, I also have a far better understanding of many of the senior management tasks and definitely more appreciative of my role

“I have recently just completed my Housing/Property Management apprenticeship and Rachel Devonshire-Hughes was my mentor. We’re all so quick to moan when we are unhappy about something and not always so quick to provide good feedback…. But I really want you to know that Rachel is absolutely brilliant!

From the very start of our apprenticeship Rachel has been fantastic, my whole cohort have spoken very very highly of her throughout. I personally had a very tough year for several personal reasons and Rachel was SO incredibly patient, sympathetic, empathetic, caring, kind, flexible, understanding (+ every single other good word) at every single stage. She was very understanding and supportive of me taking a learner break and I never felt rushed or pressured to restart and I felt like I genuinely had her undivided support if and ever I needed it.”
