Keeping Learners Safe and Supported

Information for Parents and Guardians of Learners Under 18

Kingdom Academy works with a small number of learners who are under the age of 18. We recognise the important role parents and guardians play in supporting young people and want to ensure you have clear information about safeguarding, learner welfare and the support available.

Our approach focuses on keeping learners safe, supporting wellbeing and helping young people engage confidently with learning and training. We aim to work openly and responsibly with parents and guardians, while also supporting learners to develop independence as they progress.

Safeguarding, inclusion and learner support are embedded across our programmes. Clear processes are in place to identify concerns early, respond appropriately and access further support where needed.

Keeping Learners Safe

Our Approach to Safeguarding Young Learners

Kingdom Academy takes its responsibility to safeguard learners under the age of 18 seriously. Clear safeguarding arrangements are in place across all learning environments, including workplace learning, online delivery and face to face sessions.

All staff who work with learners receive safeguarding training and are expected to act if there are concerns about a learner’s safety, wellbeing or welfare. Safeguarding is embedded into our day to day practice, not treated as a one off process.

Learners are supported to understand what safeguarding is, how to recognise concerns and who to speak to if something does not feel right. Where concerns are identified, Kingdom Academy follows clear procedures to ensure appropriate action is taken and support is accessed quickly.

Personalised Support For All Learners

Support For Learners Under 18

Learners under the age of 18 are supported through regular contact with tutors and assessors, progress reviews and ongoing check ins throughout their programme.

Support is focused on helping young people engage confidently with learning, balance training alongside work and personal responsibilities, and raise concerns early where something may be affecting their wellbeing or progress.

Where concerns are identified, Kingdom Academy takes a proportionate approach, offering early support and guidance and accessing further support where needed. This may include adjustments to learning, additional check ins or referral through our established support routes.

Our approach aims to support learners’ safety and wellbeing while also encouraging independence and responsibility as they move through education and training.

Support For Young Learners Throughout Their Programme

Inclusion, Wellbeing and Additional Support

Kingdom Academy takes a joined up approach to safeguarding, wellbeing and inclusion. Support is designed to identify concerns early and respond in a way that is proportionate and appropriate to each learner.

Learners have access to practical resources that support wellbeing, inclusion and confidence, including the Learning Without Barriers Inclusion Toolkit and the Mental Health Toolkit. These resources complement our formal support processes and can be accessed throughout a learner’s programme.

Where a learner has additional needs or requires further support, this may include reasonable adjustments, SEND or Additional Support Needs support, or referral to specialist or external services where appropriate. Support is discussed collaboratively and reviewed as circumstances change.

Our approach aims to keep learners safe, supported and able to engage confidently with learning.

Communication With Parents & Guardians

Kingdom Academy aims to communicate openly and appropriately with parents and guardians of learners under the age of 18, while also supporting learners to take increasing responsibility for their learning.

In most cases, learners are encouraged to communicate directly with tutors and assessors about their learning and progress. Parents and guardians are welcome to raise general questions or concerns.

Some information may only be shared with the learner’s consent, in line with confidentiality and data protection requirements. Where there are safeguarding or welfare concerns, Kingdom Academy will take appropriate action and may share information where it is necessary to protect a learner.

This approach helps maintain clear boundaries while ensuring learners are safe and supported.

Supporting Progress and Engagement

Progress, Attendance and Concerns

Learner progress is monitored throughout the programme through regular reviews, assessment activity and ongoing contact with tutors and assessors.

Attendance, engagement and wellbeing are considered as part of this wider picture. Where concerns arise, Kingdom Academy takes a supportive and proportionate approach, aiming to identify issues early and put appropriate support in place.

If concerns relate to:

  • Engagement or attendance
  • Learning progress
  • Wellbeing or safety

these will be addressed through established support routes. Parents and guardians may be contacted where it is appropriate to do so, particularly where safeguarding or welfare concerns are identified.

Our focus is on supporting learners to stay engaged, progress confidently and complete their programme safely.

Concerns, Complaints and Feedback

Complaints and Appeals

If parents or guardians wish to raise a concern or complaint, this can be done in line with Kingdom Academy’s Complaints and Appeals Policy.

We encourage concerns to be raised as early as possible so they can be addressed promptly and constructively.
